ON THE MOVE: Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns Opens

NewYork-Presbyterian recently celebrated the opening of the Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing exceptional, individualized care to pregnant women and their newborns before, during, and after childbirth—including advanced care for high-risk pregnancies and newborns who require extra support. Located on the top six floors of NewYork-Presbyterian David H. Koch Center, the Cohen Hospital features technologically advanced equipment, including 75 private antepartum and postpartum rooms, a 60-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and much more. AMAZING THINGS ARE HAPPENING HERE: Tracey’s Story

After years of living with refractory epilepsy, Tracey Drake finally found relief from her debilitating seizures at NewYork-Presbyterian after receiving a brain implant device called responsive neuro-stimulation, or RNS. Since then, neurologist Steven Karceski, MD, has monitored Tracey’s brain activity—programming the device to give stimulation when needed, thus preventing her seizures. Tracey faced a new challenge, however, when her device’s battery began running low at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
