The Estée Lauder Companies and the Lauder Family Support Effort With $50,000 Donation
NEW YORK, NY - Annette Green, author, activist and President Emeritus, The Fragrance Foundation, today announced the launch of a fundraising campaign to honor the heroic efforts of health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and support the mental health of the front-line staff at NewYork-Presbyterian.
Efforts to support the staff’s mental health and to enhance their physical environment are already underway with planned dedicated Recharge Rooms throughout hospital campuses. “Deeply touched by the heartbreaking tragedies of the pandemic and what health care workers are facing, I was inspired to issue an urgent call to action to help provide emotional support for medical professionals caring for patients with COVID-19,” says Annette Green. “Their selfless devotion to their patients inspired this initiative, which gives each of us the opportunity to donate in support of these front-line heroes who continue to battle the illnesses caused by the coronavirus. Unfortunately, COVID-19 still threatens us all.” The Estée Lauder Companies’ donation will specifically fund the creation of one of these Recharge Rooms to support the mental health of health care workers.
“We are extremely grateful to The Estée Lauder Companies and the Lauder family for their generous donation of $50,000 to support this endeavor,” says Annette Green.
With a workforce of more than 48,000 employees and affiliated physicians, the need for dedicated mental health spaces across NewYork-Presbyterian’s ten hospital campuses is great. Through this fundraising endeavor, we have the opportunity to support the hospital in their ongoing efforts to provide their staff with critical resources for their physicial and emotional well-being. These include dedicated relaxation spaces for front-line health care workers throughout the day, meditation and physical fitness apps, and virtual counseling to provide emotional support and practical strategies to enhance coping during these and future difficult times.
The bravery and dedication exhibited by front-line workers fighting COVID-19 deserves our unending gratitude. Through this fundraising effort, Annette Green hopes to meet the urgent need for emotional support for medical professionals.
